Adeline's Thanksgiving Feast
Tuesday was Adeline's Thanksgiving Feast at school. This is a great tradition that all the kids at Eisenhower Elementary look forward to. It's ONLY for the 5th graders...they're so special! The teachers did the turkey and everyone else sent food. What a spread! I was impressed! Turkey, ham, potatoes, fruit, jello, mac and cheese, cakes, pies, cinnamon rolls, cookies! When everyone is done eating they take the leftovers to Food for Friends. Adeline wanted to make homemade bread and pumpkin pie, but then she got too busy and I ended up making it for her. I love a reason to bake! On Tuesday morning as I was loading up to leave for the school, I thought it would be fun to make homemade butter. So I called Katie (because she knows everything!) and she told me exactly how to do it....put it in a jar and shake shake shake! So I called her back 2 more times on the way to school describing the butter and she kept saying "just keep shaking"! I felt like Nemo....just keep swimming, just keep swimming.....Anyways, the kids had a great time helping shake the butter....and I think two kids actually ate it! They got to play board games all day and even brought pillows to take a nap. Just like Thanksgiving at home! Wow, I would LOVE to be a 5th grader again!
