Happy belated Thanksgiving to all of you! We had a great holiday...did you? We started out hanging around the house watching the PARADE! We love to watch the parade! Then we loaded up around 1:00 and went to Sarah and David's house for turkey! We wanted to get there earlier to play and hang out, but just couldn't get our act together. It was so fun just being home together! So we had a GREAT dinner with our new Okie family. Everything was so yummy. Sarah did a great job on all the cooking, she didn't let me bring very much. :) After dinner we went outside to ride bikes and play, then back inside for dessert. Then we loaded up and headed up to BRICKTOWN....
We got checked into the Courtyard and went immediately to the pool. Everyone swam, even little Zoe. She really like the water and had fun splashing. But since we weren't outside under the hot sun, I decided I'd had enough fun in the water and took Zoe upstairs for a bath. Thad and the little fishies stayed longer! Our first night we ordered hamburgers and cheeseburgers from downstairs, broke open the treats and stayed in our room watching GOONIES!! The kids loved it! They had never seen it, and we ordered a clean version to bring with us. We couldn't get the DVD player we brought to work, so we called a guy to come up and he just plugged it in and it was perfect! I told him I really did do exactly what he just did! Ugghhh....
So Friday we woke up after a very sleepless night...whoever sleeps in a hotel room with 5 kids?? I couldn't sleep AT ALL!!! Zoe didn't sleep, I think she's working on another tooth so she was miserable. I hadn't brought the Tylenol...big mistake! So Thad and the kids went downstairs to swim while I put Zoe down for a nap and layed the mattress against her playpen to hide myself! And I started Twilight. Yes....I started and was "sucked" in immediately! ha ha People had worned me (OK...that just didn't look right, it reminded me of harrison "hore" for some reason. Alright, you spell it warn with an A) but I started reading anyways! In fact, I just started the THIRD BOOK last night!! OK.....back to Bricktown....so I read and Zoe slept and then the kids came back. Everyone got ready and we were off to the movies! Yeah! We were going to see HSM3 but it's not in that theatre anymore, so we saw Bolt and is was great! The kids loved it. So then onto our tradition of Marble Slab, Thad's favorite part of the weekend. :)
After our "lunch" we walked through Myriad Gardens and downtown on our way to ice skating! Now before we went on our trip, we came up with our budget and we all made a list of what we wanted to do and agreed on our activities. The kids were VERY excited about ice skating downtown outside! Thad and I practically tossed a coin to see who had to skate with them! I ended up skating, made it around 3 laps and had to quit. Those stupid skates kill your feet so bad! I don't know how people actually skate in them for more than 5 minutes! Anyways, Adeline Jackson and Miles loved it and skated around and around. Harrison on the other hand would not even put his skates on! Finally Thad took them back and they gave him his $5 but told him not to tell! :) I became the "corn dog runner". After one kid got done with a corn dog, another kid would notice and ask for one so I would go order another one, until I finally had 4 corn dogs and everyone was happy. There were no complaints except from Thad who said Miles corn dog was frozen in the middle so I had to take it back and wait for a new one! I really think Miles didn't mind, just the person he was sharing with! :) So finally we loaded up, all the coats, hats, mittens that we didnt' really need. The ice was melting it was so nice and warm, and headed back to the hotel to "rest" before going on our way to the Boat Parade!!
So after an hour of "resting" which really was jumping on the beds, playing chase around the room and eating more treats, we loaded up and headed out. We decided to walk to the river since parking would probably be hard. It was a good idea! We walked down passed Harkins and Toby Keith's and followed a trail that looked like it was heading to the river. It was great, we passed the big statues of horses and schooners. Lots of people were walking the same direction. And then it dead ended!!! We all looked at each other, I even asked who the leader was for this group! :) So we decided we would "off road" with the double stroller and hike over the RR tracks and new freeway they're building! It was quite an adventure, but we finally made it. Carrying the double stroller up and over cliffs and drop offs, pushing it through deep gravel and sand. It was great! So we finally got to the river and saw that the roads were lined with cars, our adventure was fun and saved us a ton of time! We found some seats, the kids walked right up to the front and sat on the rocks in front of everyone. We watched the wake board guy, and the see doo guy, and the skier girl do tricks. Then the "thank the sponsors" came over the loudspeakers. That went on and on forever! And how great the MAPS program is, and all the activities going on at the river next year, yadda yadda yadda. Everyone around us was bundled up with coats, hats, scarves...it was freezing! And then we realized we didn't have Miles OR Harrison's coat! I knew we didn't have Miles and he just had a sweatshirt on when we left, but I swore we had Harrison's! So Harrison finally fell asleep and laid down with Zoe's blanket, and I gave Miles my sweater I was wearing. I felt so bad for them! I'm sure people around us thought we were so horrible all bundled up nice and warm and then our kids are sitting there with no coat! Oh well! The parade of boats was cool. There was even an OU boat playing music, but I don't think I need to go back to the parade next year! David and the kids came but we never found each other, sorry David! So after the parade we trekked back to the hotel over gravel, sand, cliffs, drop offs and RR tracks and made it back to civilization! We stopped at the pizza place and ate and the kids laughed about the Top 10 things not to do...don't eat pizza with a fork and knife, don't ask if we're in the mafia!
SO THEN....are you tired of reading this yet???? The next day we swam and packed up. It was finally time to come home :( We got loaded up, the kids hung off the luggage cart as Thad pushed it down the hallway and we were off. We decided to drive by the ice skating rink just to check on the coats. I'm always so careful to not lose anything, I couldn't believe we had lost TWO coats! I looked around the nothing was there, they had the skate rental opened and I went up to ask but didn't see them laying around, and then the guy said "let me check...." and BOTH the coats were in the back!! I couldn't believe it! He said he picked them up off the sidewalk, they must have fallen off the stroller when we were leaving! Sure would have been nice to have them the night before! :) We stopped at Ted's for lunch on the way home, left absolutely stuffed and always and brought Sarah and David a "set up".
Our weekend was fabulous! We're already planning for next year if anyone want to join us. Thanksgiving weekend in Bricktown! There is always so much going on with Downtown in December it's so much fun!!
