Happy Fall

I LOVE Fall! The colors of the leaves turning, the cooler weather where you want to put on your jeans and a cozy sweater, and all the fun times that come with it! At the Balkman Bunch, there is always something going on and since I haven't written FOREVER I thought I would do a quick catch up!

Thad and I are chairing the Social Committee at Longfellow Middle School. Adeline is in 6th grade and we figured we would jump right in at a new school. I had an awesome committee and we had the BEST social last Friday night. FLASHBACK 70s 80s 90s so of course we pulled out our 80s wear and partied like it's 1999!

Tuesday was our Walk to School Day at Eisenhower. I LOVE doing this event! We had the NNHS drumline and the mayor came to walk with us, we had lots of drinks and food and of course goody bags for the kids! We were meeting at the park at 7:00am so we showed up at 6:30 to get set up and there were already people waiting! I guess they really wanted their free junk! Turned out the little laser lights had whistles on them so it was a pretty loud morning but a lot of fun! We handed out pedometers and after school Harrison came to me with his pedometer clipped on his jeans and asked how many steps were on his spedometer! During GME we had a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new walking trail. We chose the PAW PATH for the name so Mrs. Marley's class cut the ribbon with county and city officials that had helped on it. It was a pretty exciting morning, and I'm glad I can check that project off my list!

Jackson's band played at Longfellow Middle School last night. He was so excited to play for the older kids! Adeline said she was so embarrassed! The life of the middle schooler with a younger brother who wants to be famous!!

Now we get to look forward to the rest of October! Not much going on......Thad's b-day on the 23rd, then our big Halloween Bash on the 24th that I'm SOOOOO excited about! Ya'll come now! Trunk or Treat at 6:30, bring candy to pass out. Outdoor dance at 7:30 and bring a snack to share. This has got to be one of my favorite parties of the year!! :) Then Jackson's class party at school, Zoe's 2nd b-day...is she going to be 2 already?!?!?? Then we'll finally get to Halloween! What a month! October is always so crazy!!

The boys are playing football this year out at Little Axe. Miles is on the Mighty Mights and Jackson is playing up on the 5th grade team so it doesn't conflict with his band practice. Our Saturdays go something like this...take Miles to his game at 9:30 but be there at 8:30. Leave before it's over to go take Jackson to band practice. Leave band practice to go back to the football field for Jackson's game. Now this wouldn't be so bad except the closest games are 30 minutes away in Little Axe, and the farthest is about an hour! They're having fun in between begging to quit and not have to go to practice on Monday, Tuesday AND Thursday. Then sometimes after the game on Saturday they decide it is actually still kinda fun, but that wears off by Monday and we start all over again! I don't think my kids are made for sports! They're super competitive with each other at home, but on a soccer, baseball or football field they really don't care! Miles actually had a really good game last week and almost scored a touchdown! After we asked him why he played so good and he said "I just couldn't stop thinking about that double dip ice cream I was gonna get if I did a good job!" YES...bribery is a very good thing at our house! Jackson caught a kick off and ran hard with it in one game....all for a Dr. Pepper!!
