It's over. Thad got word yesterday that Phoenix is closing it's doors. This economy sucks, and you can't make it in the start-up world without investors. So he is on a plane even as I type, on his last trip to Phoenix Headquarters to give his final report. Then it's 6 weeks of severence pay, and a lot of Top Ramen!! I better go to Sams! I'm trying to decide how long we keep the Dish on. Can we really live without our DVR???
So last night he told the kids that he's looking for a new job and asked for their suggestions on what he should do next. Here are some of their responses:
Miles: You can be the bus driver for Bus 40 so we can see you every day and you can play Radio Disney all the time!
Jackson: A ROCKSTAR because they get paid lots of money like $6 million.
Adeline: Lawyer. Then....work at Pump It Up so you can get us in for FREE.
Harrison: Go to your old office.
Miles: Mailman so we can give you our letters.
Jackson: President of the United States.
Harrison: Work on the tree.
Adeline: Substitute teacher at Eisenhower.
Jackson: A job where you can stay home and it pays lots of money.
Miles: Sonic so you can carry drinks on a tray.
Jackson: Disney World and take the tickets and let us in for free.
Jackson: Shawn White snowboarder.
I think these are ALL great suggestions and I'm sure Thad will keep them in mind while looking for his next job. He always seems to land something he really enjoys, hopefully that won't change with this move. I'm ready to move his home office out of the bedroom now, and I've already claimed his office table for my sewing table. I also didn't take long to explain that if he's home and not working he gets "equal time" with the hoursehold chores and kid duty...mostly kid duty! Anyone wanna play!! :) ha ha
Seriously, it's all kinda sad. He really did love that job! And we all loved the Marriott points and airline miles. But hopefully the next one will be bigger and better and he'll love it just as much!!

Wow...that's a big change. I always thought that Thad would make a great Judge...but I think Miles takes the cake with wanting his dad to drive bus 40.

I applaud your positive attitude, and the hilarious creativity of your kids! I'm sure Thad will find his way through this, especially with an amazing wife and family to support him. We will keep our fingers crossed and your family in our prayers as Thad starts searching!

Wow! That's a big change, but you guys are really amazing, and I know you'll pull it off, and pull it off well. And Thad, PLEASE drive bus 40, so our school bus isn't always late (he has to run 2 routes).
Hi Amy, I do not even now if you remember me, but I have loved looking at your blog from Taryn's blog to see your beautiful family and how much it has grown since we left! I just wanted to tell you that James lost his job back in November and I know how scary it is, especially with kids. But you guys are a great family and you have a great attitude about it, I have no doubt that Heavenly Father has a plan for you guys.
James and I had no idea how it would all work out- it just did not seem possible, but it has somehow.
So continue to keep your chin up and you'll be in our prayers.
p.s. I love your kids responses! If only the world were that simple!=)

We know he will find something great, Thad is too awesome to pass up. Love the kid suggestions. When David was looking for a job he didn't agree with the equal kid and house contributions! He said finding a job is a full time job....but then he took a lot of naps. ha ha
All of Jacksons ideas were the best, well okay I'm just partial to the Disney World one. :) Honestly I can't decide which one is the best, they were hilarious!!!! work on th tree, drive the bus, sonic, at home, etc. etc.
