The 12 Days of Halloween...

...at least that's how it felt this year!! Halloween Bash, school parties, cub scout party, Zoe's birthday, Halloween in Norman, Halloween again at Sarah's....it just went on and on and on and on....it was the Halloween that NEVER ENDED!!!

Thursday we had Halloween parties at school. I'm "homeroom mom" for Jackson's class so I got to organize it! I love doing the kids parties....so much fun! Last year I had Miles class, the year before that Adeline's class, so this year it is Jackson's turn. We did caramel apples, Halloween Bingo, snacks and "spooky punch" which is fruit punch and Sprite with dry ice in it! Always a big hit with the kids. I think the party went well and everyone had a great time, the kids wore their costumes to school and looked so cute. Zoe came with me and wore her beloved Tinkerbell costume that she loves. It was her Birthday so it was an extra special treat for her! :)

Zoe's BIRTHDAY.....my baby girl turned 2!!!!! For her birthday she got to spend her day taking Marley to the groomers for a buzz cut, drive all over town looking for dry ice and then to the school for parties. We came home and made her birthday cupcakes and homemade mac and cheese and leftover chicken noodle soup, had Sarah and the cousins over for dinner then Sarah ran out with the boys on their way to football. Busy day but I don't think Zoe minded! She got a cute doll and new stroller and playpen from us, Sarah gave her a cute little set of three white puppy dogs in a little dog bed, and Grandma Dear and Grandpa Don sent her the cutest little shirt and GranDad and GranKat sent the cutest winter jammies! Thanks everyone for making her day special!!
Norman celebrated Halloween a night early this year. You can't trick or treat the same time as a home OU football game, so Halloween was changed from Saturday to Friday. We went to the Cullifer's for a great Halloween party and trick or treating and had so much fun! They had a tractor and hay ride that took the kids around the neighborhood. It was a blast! They would all pile in and drive a block, then stop and all jump out, scramble around the street running from house to house then all climb back in to go to the next block. Only one kid fell off, I heard he only rolled three times then jumped up and started running to catch up and jump back on the trailor.

We always "borrow" a neighorhood and we've never tried Hall Park before but it was great! We saw lots of people from school and even went to our Principal's mom's house where they were all sitting out with a campfire and eating chicken tortilla soup that was soooo yummy I really need to get that recipe!! Back at Amy's there was lots of delicious food and drinks and the kids jumped on the trampoline and played on the swingset. Zoe found the big buckets of candy waiting to be handed out and made several trips from the back yard to the front door to fill up her own bucket. Sterling came with us and he fit right in and had a great time too!

Finally October 31st rolled around along with 2 football games, rock clinic, the OU game and more trick or treating! Miles and Jackson did great in their games, Zoe wore her Halloween tutu of course and looked so cute!! We spent the afternoon hanging around and then Thad and Jackson went to the OU game (thanks David for tickets!). Jackson was soooo excited to go to another game, he didn't think twice about skipping trick or treating to go!! Adeline went with Taylor to go trick or treating at her aunt's neighborhood and I took the 3 kids over to Sarah's for dinner and another night of trick or treating! We went to her next door neighbor's and ate smoked ribs which were delicious and homemade pizza that Sarah made. Then the "big kids" went off BY THEMSELVES!!!! I still can't believe it! :) Sterling, Lexi, Riley, Miles and the neighbor kids! They had a great time together and didn't have to wait for the little kids, which ended up being a good thing! Sarah, David and I took Harrison, Zoe and Weston and moved down the street very slowly!! We weren't even out of the driveway before we had to go back for a drink, go back to change a poopy diaper, go back go back go back.....then we finally started and made it across the street then had to go back for something else...then Zoe wanted to push the stroller, into the grass...into the grass...into the grass. We went to the next house and had to go back for another drink....No Mom, I don't want Sprite I want WATER!! At every door Zoe had to look and touch all the decorations. She would sit on the pumpkins and turtles and trip after taking 3 steps to catch up with us! I think in about 2 hours we did 10 houses. At least it seemed like that long and it could have been even less than 10!! We did have a nice time talking to the different people about their dogs and fences, taking down Halloween decorations and putting up Christmas, drinking cider and walking and laughing! Finally we went back home and turned on the OU game and waited for the big kids and Adeline to come home.

I can't believe Halloween is finally OVER and I'm so ready to throw away the candy! Maybe I'll actually go and do it tonight! Do you think they'll notice?

you guys have so much fun. we did over here too, but California is no costumes or Halloween parties at school and no home food or beverages - everything has to be store bought so it has passed FDA standards. we all try to get around it and have harvest parties! I stayed home with 10 day old Kellen and handed out candy, and Brad got to do trick or treat duty!
