Saturday was the last football game for Miles. They lost the game on Thursday night so they played for the 3rd and 4th place in the league. For the Little Axe Mighty Mites this was quite an accomplishment! They play with Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders against mostly second grade teams. They're always the littlest kids on the field which seems to be the normal for our kids and their sports teams! So Saturday morning at 6:00 the alarm went off and we rolled out of bed. Loaded up the car with the kids, coats, blankets, stadium chairs and hot chocolate and headed out to Choctaw for the 8:00 game.
Miles had a GREAT game!! He sacked the quarterback, throwing him down pretty hard in the process! He also recovered a fumble from the other team, had some great blocks and a few more tackles! Needless to say, they lost 0-32 (I think). After the game they were awarded a medal for 4th place and a big team trophy. Coach Jerry held it up as he yelled "this will go in the school and all ya'll can tell your friends that you won it!!" All ya'll....yes, we're playing Little Axe Football here!! Miles was so excited to get a medal and just held it and looked at it with awe! Thanks Coach Ben for a great season and all your help!!
Now that it's all over it's a little sad. It really was fun watching the boys play football this season! You forget the struggle and the complaining and the 3 practices every week and 2 games at different times, running back and forth back and forth! We'll see if they'll ever do it again, but if they decide to we'll all be there in the bleachers cheering for them! Tomorrow night is the team banquet, turn in your pads and get your team trophy! Maybe we'll have to keep those trophies nice and shiny and on display all year....then they'll want another one next year!!
