Carving Punkins

We haven't carved pumpkins for a couple years. You have to wait until it's almost Halloween or the pumpkins will rot, and it seems the closer it gets the busier we are! School, sports, church...always something to do! But this year we were determined to get our pumpkins carved! We bought them early and let them decorate the front of the house. Then on Sunday night we decided that was THE NIGHT! Granted, it was almost two weeks before Halloween and we knew they would never make it, but we decided it was now or never!

The kids had a great time scooping out the "slobber" as Harrison called it! They all wanted to save their seeds and when I was helping Harrison get everything out, I accidentally didn't get all the guts off the seeds and he said "Mom, don't put that slobber on my seeds!" I think Jackson had the most fun with the guts putting them on his head and smashing his face in the bowl!

All of the Jack-O-Lanterns turned out great! We had a spooky one, scary one, silly one and even a vampire one...imagine that! When we were done we took them outside and lit them, and then sat around eating yummy Halloween cupcakes!
